For an independent EU ethics body common to all EU institutions

Online conference - Register here!

The EU institutions have some of the best ethics rules for lobby transparency, for Commissioners and staff to cool-off before taking the revolving door into a lobby job and against other conflicts of interest. Yet, the implementation of these rules can be improved.

The new EU Commission said it is willing to support the creation of an independent EU ethics body. A discussion on what such an EU ethics body could look like is therefore needed.

Daniel Freund (Greens/EFA) was appointed by the European Parliament as rapporteur to draft how this body could look like, together with shadow rapporteurs for the Socialists and Democrats Giuliano Pisapia and Gilles Boyer of the liberal Renew group and Leila Chaibi from GUE/NGL.

Vice-President Vera Jourova opens the event

Come join these key decision makers and law professor Alberto Alemanno for a discussion on how such an independent EU ethics body could be designed! M. Alemanno will present his fresh study on legal options and a comparison of best practice bodies from France, Canada, Ireland and the UK.

Daniel Freund (Greens/EFA), Giuliano Pisapia (S&D), Gilles Boyer (Renew) and Leila Chaibi (The Left) invite you for this online conference on Wednesday 13 January 2021 15h-17h. To save your place in this event, please register below!
