Policy adviser for the AFCO Committee - English/Spanish

Vacancy Notice – Contractual agent, FG III

This is to inform you that the Greens/EFA group in the European Parliament is looking for a full-time Policy adviser in the Committee on constitutional affairs (AFCO), in its Secretariat in Brussels. (Fixed-term contract until 30 June 2024 )

Starting date: as soon as possible

Tasks to be performed:

  • Advising and coordinating the group and MEPs on policy issues related to the committee on constitutional affairs (AFCO)
  • Preparing MEPs for Committee and coordinators meetings including draft reports, briefings, resolutions,  amendments, & voting lists; attending to committee meetings and missions, assuring close contact to Parliament’s AFCO secretariat
  • Participating in the Greens/EFA Cluster Rights&Democracy, WG AFCO, when relevant in other internal working groups;
  • Take part in the work of the Group in the fields of Constitutional affairs, including the follow up of the Conference on the Future of Europe; prepare dossiers for Group meetings, briefings, resolutions, amendments and voting lists for the plenary sessions;
  • Negotiate and discuss on behalf of the Greens/EFA Group and on behalf of EFA sub-group with stakeholders, relevant NGOs and representatives of other political groups in the Parliament;
  • Liaise and negotiate with Commission and Council officials, preparation and follow-up of conciliation and Trilogue meetings in the fields of competence;
  • Contributing content to the Group’s campaigning and media work in relation to the fields of competence;

Qualifications and experience required:

  • Professional experience of 3 years or more;
  • good Knowledge and experience in the field;
  • knowledge of the European institutions, especially the european Parliament, EU legislation and decision-making process;
  • Educational background in line with the function;
  • Familiarity with Green/EFA positions relevant for the work in the AFCO committee, in particular EFA ones;
  • Good negotiating skills;
  • Very good writing skills and knowledge of organisational methodology;
  • Excellent standard of English and Spanish and fluent in at least one other EU language;
  • Open-mindedness, communicative attitude and experience in working in a political administration and in a multi-cultural team;
  • Be a good team-worker and ready to work flexible hours;


Under article 12 (2) of the Conditions of Employment of Other Servants (CEOS) of the European Communities, candidates must:

  • be citizen of an EU Member State; unless an exception is authorised by the authority referred to article 6 (1);
  • enjoy full rights as citizen;
  • have fulfilled any obligations imposed by the laws concerning military service;
  • meet the character requirements for the duties involved.
