Ahead of tomorrow's informal meeting of Ministers of Justice and Home Affairs in the Bulgarian capital Sofia, please find below a quote from Ska Keller, president of the Greens/EFA group in the European Parliament, on refugee policy:
"The Bulgarian Presidency must show leadership on asylum reform. It must not buckle under pressure from right-wing populists such as Andrej Babis, Viktor Orbán or Sebastian Kurz. If we want to avoid overcrowded refugee camps and intolerable conditions for those seeking protection in Greece and Italy, we need a viable and sustainable redistribution mechanism in the EU. Transferring responsibility for refugees to neighbouring European countries is not an acceptable solution to the EU's solidarity crisis."
