Stop feminicide in Europe and in Latin America

7th conference on feminicide

CONFERENCE DOCUMENTATION

This conference is organised by the Greens/EFA Group in the European Parliament in cooperation with Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung, CIFCA, Grupo Sur, ALOP, OIDHACO

PRESENTATION

Feminicide, or the gender-based murder of women because they are women is a global phenomenon to be addressed with extreme urgency by all policy makers. Over the past years, national and international legislation has tackled the problem. Nevertheless, States are failing to eradicate it as the number of feminicide is increasing worldwide.  At their last EU-Latin American and Caribbean (CELAC) Summit, in Santiago de Chile, in January 2013, Heads of State committed in the EU-CELAC Action Plan to combat the phenomenon.  The EuroLat Assembly will adopt a resolution on feminicide, in March this year. The Post-Millenium Development Goals (MDG) will be established soon. What are our and your proposals? What has to be done to improve laws, and beyond laws? Join us on the afternoon of the 6th of March 2014 for the 7th Conference on Feminicide!  In the morning of the same day, we will have a workshop to bring activists and their projects together.
