Target

We want to build a world, where we all have the right to decide for our bodies.

Where access to abortion and sexual and reproductive health and rights is the same for all, no matter who you are, or where you live. This is why we rise for abortion rights

Where women, non-binary, gender diverse persons and all members of the LGBTIQ+ community truly have the freedom to be who they are, without no fear of violence.

With local green actors across Europe and the world, we are creating change.

OUR KEY DEMANDS

During this mandate, we have been building a world free of gender-based violence (GBV) in all its forms and with a focus on inclusivity.

We have spearheaded reports about adding gender-based violence into the list of European crimes, adopting a cyberviolence report, pushed for a resolution on #MeToo, and fiercely campaigned for a European Commission proposal for a directive against GBV.

As the Parliament is formulating its position on the Commission’s proposal, we will relentlessly continue our work on the GBV directive in the EP, determined to make this moment in feminist history even more inclusive and effective.

We want to continue our successful engagement of audiences on GBV topics in Member States, making connections between this personal issue and feminist and inclusive solutions, which can address it.

Both in the European Parliament and with Green parties across the EU, we are strong advocates and for LGBTIQ+ rights and equality.

Our sustained collaboration with our sibling organizations, such as EGP, FYEG, GEF and the LGBTI Intergroup, help us to cement the Green leadership on the topic.

Through sustained legislative work and by engaging in LGBTIQ+- specific actions and events, such as international days and pride weeks, we are loud and proud in engaging in the topic from different perspectives.

Defending abortion and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) is rooted in protecting bodily autonomy and fundamental rights within and beyond EU borders.

We are calling to add abortion in the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights and to ensure that SRHR are supported and defended by EU - both internally and externally.

We work side by side with NGOs, human rights defenders, social movements and green actors - especially in Member States where activism is becoming increasingly risky.

Signal for help - We need a law against gender-based violence now!

This year the signal for help for victims of violence went viral on TikTok, saving at least one kidnapped girl’s life. It has become a universal signal as a call for help and to escape gender-based violence. But we cannot rely on hand signals to save young girls and women from violence against them.

Government’s attacks on women’s rights has deadly consequences

The European Parliament has voted in favour of standing in solidarity with the thousands and thousands of Polish citizens who, last week, took to the streets in protest against draconian Polish abortion laws. The restrictive law is just one year old but it has already cost at least two women's lives.

Show us the money! Here’s how pay transparency can close the gender pay gap

Kira Peter-Hansen
Opinion by Kira Peter-Hansen
Equal pay for equal work has been a feminist goal for decades, but how can we know what we’re achieving if companies can keep pay packets a secret? Right now, the European Parliament is taking great strides towards gender equality by demanding full pay transparency – and the Greens/EFA are leading the way.

No More Empty Words: Greens/EFA roundtable on ending gender-based violence in Europe

Gender-based violence (GBV) is one of the most systematic and widespread human rights violations in the world, claiming thousands of lives every year even before the pandemic. It’s time the EU moves from empty words to concrete actions.
