Marrakesh Treaty

The European Parliament, Council and Commission have reached a compromise deal on the implementation of the Marrakesh treaty in the EU. The treaty makes exceptions to some copyright rules for books and other materials in accessible formats for people who are blind or visually impaired (such as audiobooks, large print, and braille).

European Court rejects Commission's attempt to block anti TTIP citizens' initiative

Ruling from the General Court of the European Union

The General Court of the European Union has annulled the European Commission's decision to refuse the registration of the Stop TTIP European citizens’ initiative. "We owe it to the over 3,000,000 citizens that signed this ECI to finally make the European Citizens' Initiative a fully functional tool of direct democracy in Europe", says Greens/EFA Vice-President Josep Maria Terricabras.

This week kicks off the intersessional climate change conference in Bonn, Germany. When we see the climate crisis continuously escalating, the people negotiating our future need the best possible space to do it. They need a space free from the fossil fuel lobby. Commission’s decision to withdraw Anti-Corruption Report Widely Criticised

The European Commission was supposed to publish its second Anti-Corruption Report last year, but after a series of delays it has now been withdrawn and will no longer be published. Commission Vice-President Frans Timmermans confirmed to the European Parliament last week that they had decided to scrap the report but promised to MEPs, who have heavily criticised this decision, that corruption is still an important topic.
