Victory for tax justice

Council likely to agree to corporate tax transparency measures

Today (25 February), an informal meeting of EU (COMPET) ministers is expected to give the greenlight to corporate tax transparency measures, known as country-by-country reporting (CbCR).

Recovery Fund essential to ecological transition

Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF)

Today (9 February), Members of the European Parliament will vote on the outcome of the negotiations into the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), designed to help EU Member States through the economic fallout from the pandemic. The Greens/EFA group welcome the allocation of at least 37% of the total national envelopes to biodiversity and climate, as well as at least 20% on digital spending.

Parliament wants EU to slash material use and consumption

Circular Economy

The European Parliament will vote today (9 February) on the Parliament's position the European Commissions' New Circular Economy Action Plan, a main pillar of the Green Deal. The Greens/EFA group are calling for binding targets to reduce the use of resources, the right to repair, and a digital product passport that should inform consumers on the reparability, and legal measures to prevent premature obsolescence.

Decent and affordable housing for all

The European Parliament adopted the report ‘access to decent and affordable housing for all’ by Greens/EFA MEP Kim van Sparrentak. The Parliament report is calling on the European Commission to propose an integrated strategy on affordable and social housing, to ensure that housing rights are put before market interests, and for an end to homelessness by 2030.

Green light for financing sustainable recovery

Recovery and Resilience Facility

Early this morning, negotiations were concluded on the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), the central piece of the Next Generation EU package, designed to help the EU through the economic fallout of the Covid-19 pandemic. The, RRF will make €672.5 billion (€312.5 billion in grants and €360 billion in loans) available to member states to support their investments and reforms in favour of the ecological and digital transition. The priorities are: Green transformation, digital transformation, resilience, economic cohesion, social and territorial cohesion, institutional resilience, and policies for the next generation, children and youth.
