Member States fail to protect public health and environment from endocrine disrupters

The Standing Committee on Plants, Animals, Food and Feed has today voted to approve new criteria determining hormone-disrupting chemicals used in pesticides. The European Commission's criteria will make it very difficult to identify endocrine disrupters, meaning that few if any products would be removed from the market.

A longer lifetime for products

The European Parliament adopted Greens/EFA MEP Pascal Durand's report aiming to make the goods we buy last longer, cutting down on waste while providing a better deal for consumers! A clear consensus on the need to end planned obsolescence.

Road mobility package

The European Commission has today (31 May) presented the first part of its road mobility package. The package contains proposals for controversial changes to current laws on the social and environmental aspects of the road transport sector, as well as an update that will affect the working conditions of freight drivers working abroad.

Road Mobility Package must deliver for workers and the environment

The European Parliament has voted on a resolution setting out its position on EU road transport policy. This comes ahead of the European Commission’s Road Mobility Package. The Greens/EFA group wants to see significant improvements to the conditions of workers in the transport sector.

European Parliament wants to ban import of new GM maize

The European Parliament's Environment Committee has voted against the import of a range of genetically modified maize varieties for use in feed and food. The majority of MEPs voted against the European Commission's proposal to authorize several Genetic Engineering Maize varieties from Syngenta.
