European Parliament calls for solidarity & Green Deal to be at heart of recovery

Covid19 Recovery

The European Parliament has just adopted a resolution on the economic recovery plan following the Covid19 pandemic, which puts the Green Deal at its core. The European Parliament is proposing a socio-economic recovery and transformation plan backed by the MFF amounting to €2 trillion, of which at least €1 trillion would be in the form of grants financed through a common loan guaranteed by the EU budget.

Draft Environment Committee report calls for 65% less greenhouse gases by 2030

EU climate law

The European Parliament Environment Committee's draft for a European Climate Law calls for a 65% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, going beyond the European Commission's proposal of 55%. The draft report also calls for a CO2 budget and a European Climate Council.

Corona-crisis must not be an excuse for postponement

Farm-to-Fork/Biodiversity

A leak today (Thursday, 16th April) has revealed that the European Commission is considering postponing the Farm-to-Fork and Biodiversity Strategies. The Greens/EFA Group in the European Parliament rejects any postponement and calls for the timetable to be maintained, especially in view of the ongoing negotiations on the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy.
