Fighting for a greener world
Europe stands at a turning point. The climate is changing before our eyes. Inequality is growing. Democracy itself is under threat from those who profit from fear and division. It can feel like everything is becoming more fragile at once – our environment, our livelihoods, our trust in politics.
But this is not only a moment of crisis. It is a moment of choice. It’s an opportunity to make Europe work for all of us, not just for a few.
We can choose a different direction: a Europe that protects the planet, puts people before profit, and strengthens democracy instead of hollowing it out. A Europe where climate action, social justice and democratic rights are not separate issues, but parts of one shared project: We want to build a good life for everyone, within the limits of our planet.
This is our vision of a new green world.
Everything is connected - Climate, Equality, Freedom
The air we breathe, the homes we live in, the wages we earn, the rights we enjoy, they are all linked. When floods destroy neighborhoods, it is often low-income families who lose the most. When energy prices rise, it is people in poorly insulated homes who must choose between heating and eating. When public services are cut and inequality grows, frustration rises and anti-democratic forces step in to exploit it.
Climate change, social inequality and strains on our democracy feed each other. But the opposite is also true: the solutions can strengthen each other.
Greens/EFA believe Investing in clean energy lowers bills, creates jobs and frees Europe from fossil fuel dependence. Renovating homes can cut emissions while making life healthier and more affordable. We know stronger workers’ rights and fair wages make the green transition a source of security, not fear. Transparent institutions and a free civil society can ensure that power stays in the hands of people, not polluters, oligarchs or big tech giants.
We fight for a greener Europe that must also be a fairer and more democratic – or it will not succeed.
A Just Transition- leave no one behind
We know that big changes can create uncertainty. Entire regions have been built around industries that now need to transform. Workers worry about their jobs. Families worry about rising costs. These concerns are real, and they deserve real answers.
That is why our vision for change must have fairness at its’ heart. . Climate action must lift people up, not push them aside. It must mean good, secure jobs in renewable energy, clean industry, care, transport and better homes. It must mean affordable public transport, lower bills, strong public services and social protection that gives people stability in times of change.
No one should be treated as collateral damage in the fight against climate change. The green transition can reduce poverty, improve health and create opportunity – if fairness is built into every policy from the start.
Clean Energy for a Stronger Europe
A climate safe Europe runs on renewable energy. Solar, wind, geothermal and community owned projects make our energy cleaner and more democratic. They also free us from fossil fuel dependence and keep energy prices stable.
We push for massive investment in renewable energy, modern energy grids and home insulation. By supporting clean technology, Europe can create millions of high quality jobs and secure its energy future. A renewable revolution is already underway. We are accelerating it.
Dignity, equality and care in everyday life
A green future is not only about emissions and energy systems. It is about how we live together. It is about if we can afford a decent home, access healthcare and education, and live free from discrimination.
Social justice means wages people can live on, not just survive on. It means housing as a human right, not a financial asset for speculation. It means fair taxation so that extreme wealth contributes to the common good, funding schools, hospitals and green infrastructure.
It also means equality in daily life: equal rights for all of us who are women, LGBTQIA+ people, people with disabilities, migrants and minorities. A society that excludes, discriminates or leaves people behind is not only unjust – it is weaker, more divided and more vulnerable to authoritarian politics.
Care, solidarity and inclusion are not ‘soft values’. They are the foundation of a resilient Europe.
Democracy - The glue that holds it all together
None of this is possible without a strong democracy. The right to vote, to protest, to organise, to access independent information: These are what allow people to shape the decisions that affect their lives.
When courts are undermined, journalists attacked or civil society silenced, it becomes easier for powerful interests to block climate action, weaken workers’ rights and roll back equality. Defending the rule of law, fighting disinformation and bringing big tech under democratic control are therefore not side issues. They are central to building a fair and sustainable Europe.
A green Europe that works for everyone
Our vision is bold but within reach: a Europe where nature can thrive, where everyone can live with dignity, and where power belongs to people.
We are fighting for a Europe that runs on clean energy, protects forests and oceans, and restores the ecosystems that protect us in return. We want a Europe where work is valued, wealth is shared more fairly, and homes are places to live – not chips in a global casino. We want to build a Europe that stands up for human rights, inside and beyond its borders, and defends democracy against those who seek to weaken it.
This future is not a distant dream. The solutions already exist – in our communities, our cities, in technology, our movements and our everyday choices. The task now is to bring them together with courage, solidarity and political will.
A greener world is possible. A fairer society is possible. A stronger democracy is possible.
