POSSIBLE OUTCOMES, COMMUNICATION, AND FOLLOW-UP

No one can predict the future, but an exchange of view on the possible COP21 outcomes allows us to think about different communication strategies. What are the key issues for this COP? What should be our Green demands? What happens after Paris? NGOs and Greens active in national/regional governments give their opinion:

  • Main issues to be solved at COP21
Wendel Trio, director of CAN Europe
  • Demands and expectations of cities in the COP21 debate
Tine Heyse, alderman Environment, Energy & Climate for Gent (Belgium)
  • The EU's role during the Paris negotiations and possible outcomes
Carole Dieschbourg, Luxembourgish minister of Environment
  • Life after Paris
Asad Rehman, International Climate Coordinator of Friends of the Earth England, Wales & Northern Ireland

Questions, remarks and suggestions

Moderated by MEP Yannick Jadot

12:50-13:30
LET'S GET THE MESSAGE ACROSS - A JOURNALIST'S OPINION ON THE COP

Love it or hate it, but public opinion sets the political agenda. Nothing has as much influence on public opinion as the media, or is it the other way around? Whichever it is, no one will deny the large role that the media can play in the fight against climate change. Two key journalists discuss how the Green message can be made visible in the press:

  • Selling climate change in Poland
Karolina Zbytniewska, Editor-in-Chief and Managing Director EurActiv Poland
  • Climate journalism over the years
Fiona Harvey, Environment correspondent at The Guardian
