Eurogroup needs to follow through on commitments to Greece

Greece

Following another unsucessful Eurogroup meeting yesterday (22 May), Greens/EFA economic and finance spokesperson Sven Giegold comments:

“The question of debt relief for Greece still looms large. With the Greek Parliament last week voting to continue the painful reforms prescribed by Eurozone leaders, Greece has satisfied its side of the bargain and must be shown some respect. The creditors now need to uphold their part of the agreement and follow through on their commitments.

“The Eurogroup urgently needs to deliver and support Greece in overcoming its mounting debt. Greek people continue to suffer under largely harmful reforms and failure to agree on debt relief does nothing to improve the situation.”
