The Reform of European Electoral Law

EFA Conference

REGISTRATION CLOSED

Interpretation: English, French, Spanish, Catalan, Welsh

Co-hosted by Josep-Maria Terricabras MEP, Jill Evans MEP and Jordi Sebastià MEP

The forthcoming reform of European Electoral Law brings us an opportunity to strengthen the democratic legitimacy of the EU.

However, in order to pursue that goal, we need to evaluate different aspects:

  • To what extent is the harmonisation of Electoral Law going to help reach that objective?

  • How can we foster the Europeanization of European elections?

  • How can we find a balance between unity and diversity?

  • What should be the role of regions and stateless nations in the rules to define constituencies?

This conference aims at starting a dialogue between politicians, academics and civil society in order to analyse the questions that arise from that process.
