Xi Jinping’s China: What should we expect?

Beginning on 16 October 2022, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) will hold its 20th National Congress at which Xi Jinping will begin his third term as the General Secretary of the CCP. It is to be expected that he will expand on two central claims that he made at the 19th National Congress in October 2017, namely that the CCP leads "government, the military, society and schools, north, south, east and west", and that China "is moving closer to the world's center stage".

Our conference will be a timely occasion to discuss the trajectory that China is pursuing under Xi Jinping. Indeed, since the beginning of 2020, China and its relationship with the world have seen unprecedented change. We offer the opportunity to hear analyses from some of the world's best China experts.
