Feminism In The Age of Sexist Algorithms & Tech Giants

Join us for a day of discussions, practical workshops and networking on how to strengthen feminist strategies, narratives and resilience with our Greens/EFA MEPs Melissa Camara, Benedetta Scuderi, Alexandra Geese and Nicu Stefanuta, as well as international experts.

Across Europe and beyond, feminist defenders are at the forefront of advancing democracy, human rights, climate justice and social justice. Yet they increasingly operate in hostile contexts shaped by authoritarianism, anti-gender movements, digital misogyny, shrinking civic space and growing threats to democracy. At the same time, funding for feminist organisations is being cut or redirected, while support remains short-term, inaccessible and insufficient, especially for grassroots, intersectional and frontline movements.

This backlash is part of a broader reactionary alliance spanning far-right and authoritarian actors, anti-feminist digital networks, billionaire-owned media and tech platforms. Gender, race, migration and sexuality are increasingly weaponised to divide societies and undermine democratic values. Gendered disinformation targets women leaders, feminist defenders and marginalised communities, while online misogyny and manosphere cultures fuel offline violence and reinforce authoritarian narratives.

Meanwhile, tech billionaires, algorithms and AI infrastructures are concentrating unprecedented political and cultural power, shaping public debate and civic participation. Feminists must therefore challenge not only the political forces driving backlash, but also the economic and technological systems that enable and amplify it.

In light of these developments, the second edition of Feminist Futures will move from diagnosis to strategy, and from reaction to power-building.

How can we organise and communicate effectively in today’s digital context? How can we build collective narratives and practical tools to confront fascism, digital authoritarianism and patriarchal backlash at their roots?

The Greens/EFA invite you to a day of feminist organising, strategy and coalition-building.
