-----------------

The extreme-right continues to grow in strength across Europe. The right continues to shift ever further towards extremist ideologies; ideologies that endanger the most vulnerable people in our society, women, migrants, racialized people, trans-women, people with disabilities, queer people and so many others. It is more important than ever that we come together to create new narratives and build bridges between our struggles, to build the resistance to these fascist powers and to provide true alternatives to their hate.

This conference seeks to bring together various feminist fighters and thinkers to create new narratives and to strategise together for a feminist future in the face of fascism. We aim to make the EP a space for collective reflection, networking, sharing of struggles and tools to face fascism and far-right movements from a feminist perspective.

Our feminism is inclusive, it is liberatory and it is built on the premise that none of us are free until all of us are free!

Interpretation will be provided in the following languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, and Romanian.

PROGRAMME

10h - 10h45 Panel 1: Opening – The F wos - feminism vs fascism

Everywhere, illiberal regimes are attacking our rights, and the feminist response is getting organised.  Throughout the world, feminist action is creating spaces for resistance and victory on the ground and at the ballot box. They are the main architects of change. How does feminist action today represent not only the main opposition to fascism, but also a real alternative?

  • With MEPs Melissa Camara and Nicu Stefanuta
  • Conversation between Maboula Soumahoro, French scholar, writer and recognized expert on issues related to racism and discrimination, and Mehreen Khan, Economics Editor for The Times of London and a former Europe correspondent for the Financial Times in Brussels covering UK and global macroeconomic policy and has written about racism and Islamophobia in Europe.

10h45 - 11h Coffee break

11h - 13h Panel 2 – None of us are free until all of us are free – connecting our feminist struggles (sharing of best practices and tools)

We will be looking at different feminist struggles across Europe and the world, especially the global south, workers, activists, politicians, journalists, mothers, lesbians, trans women, connecting the dots and exploring how we can work together to achieve our goals. We will explore concrete examples of links between different struggles with a specific focus on fights happening on the ground.

Opening by MEP Benedetta Scuderi, moderation by Mehreen Khan
