Social partnership under threat

Open Letter to Commission President Barroso

In the report it published on "Labour Market Developments in Europe 2012", the European Commission set out a series of so-called "Reforms potentially leading to better employment outcomes".

The Greens/EFA Group was shocked to see such reforms included reducing the role of Social Partnership and reducing citizen's rights and social protection. Social Partnership is a core element of the European Union's labour market model and the proposals run contrary to the values of the European Union and the EU2020 strategy

Signed by Greens/EFA Co-Presidents Rebecca Harms and Daniel Cohn-Bendit, and Greens/EFA MEPs Jean Lambert (EMPL Coordinator) and Sven Giegold (ECON Coordinator)
