Meet Nicolae Ștefănuță at the Summit of Heads of States and Governments - today (Thursday, 15 October) from 6:30pm on

For the first time, Nicolae Ștefănuță will attend today´s European leaders´s summit as newly elected Co-President of the Greens/EFA group in the European Parliament. Nicolae Ștefănuță will be present at the Justus Lipsius building from 6:30pm on and will be available for interviews and background talks in English, French, German and of course, in his native language Romanian. 

Nicolae Ștefănuță, Co-President of the Greens/EFA in the European Parliament, on EUCO and the Irish Presidency´s proposal on the Multiannual Financial Framework:

“You cannot expect Europe to do more while investing less. The Irish Presidency is giving in to those who promise a more competitive EU and secure jobs while cutting the budget needed to deliver them. Its proposed cut of 141 Billion Euros leaves Europe with fewer resources for people facing sky-rocketing energy costs, housing crisis, Erasmus students, to answer Russian hybrid attack and to make Europe more competitive. 

“We have just had a budget that was not fit for the times, not taking into account the EU’s needed reaction to the climate and energy crisis, war and inflation.

“It is high time to put the EU budget on a solid footing. We need new ‘own resources’ for a reliable budget that can withstand future crises. Together with the leaders of S&D, Renew and the EPP, we are clear. We will not endorse an MFF that fails to match Europe’s ambitions with the funding to deliver them.”
