Immigration policy key focus of Greens/EFA study days in the Canaries
The Greens/EFA group in the European Parliament is to hold its annual 'study days' from 16-19 October. With the theme of this year's meeting focusing on immigration and against the backdrop of the unprecedented numbers of migrants arriving on its shores, the group has chosen the Canary Islands as the venue for this year's event.
A public debate on migration, addressing the causes and EU policy responses, will be held on 19 October, with representatives from African government and society, European experts and Spanish politicians. Also on 19 October, a group of Greens/EFA MEPs will visit one of the 'retention centres' for migrants to the Canary Islands.
