A fair future of work: the opportunity of the platform work directive

Join us for a discussion with an exciting line-up of speakers on the opportunities that the proposal on the platform workers directive offers in shaping the future of work.

How do we make sure tech innovation delivers decent jobs and fair conditions for workers and real autonomy for those genuinely self-employed? Are fairness for workers and flexibility for companies at odds with each other? How can we avoid that workplaces are dominated by black-box algorithms and instead empower workers?

Kim van Sparrentak (GreensEFA shadow rapporteur on the Platform Work Directive), Sara Matthieu (GreensEFA EMPL coordinator) and Tilly Metz (GreensEFA shadow rapporteur for the TRAN opinion on the platform work directive) will host:

  • Jeremias Adams-Prassl, Professor of Law at Oxford University
  • Max Uebe, European Commission, Head of Unit Future of Work, Youth Employment
  • Livia Spera, General Secretary, European Transport Workers Federation
  • Elisabetta Gualmini, S&D, Rapporteur for the Platform Work Directive Government representative
  • Johan Van Rijn, Permanent Representation Netherlands
  • Platform Worker (Bolt/Uber driver)
  • Platform Worker (Deliveroo rider)
  • Platform Worker, FNV Trade Union

The event will be moderated by Shona Murray (Euronews)
