Breaking social

Documentary screening

WE CANNOT AFFORD THE RICH AND WE NEED TO TAKE ACTION

Screening of Breaking Social

We are all told that if we work hard enough, we will be successful. The weight and pressure to succeed are constantly put on citizens.

But these are the same citizens that struggle to make ends meet and have to decide between overheating in summer or affording food, while shareholders and oligarchs see their fortunes skyrocket.

The fortunes of the ultra-rich don’t skyrocket because of their hard work, their fortunes skyrocket because they have established strategies to ensure that they will remain in power at the expense of all the others.

Fredrik Gertten, the award-winning director of Push -the documentary on the housing crisis- has come back with another eye-opening film. Breaking Social explores what happens when societies stand up against the global patterns of kleptocracy and extractivism that the mega rich have put in place.

On July 5th at 18:00 we will screen Breaking Social at Cinéma Galeries and will follow up with a conversation with director Fredrik Gertten, former British military and geostrategy specialist Sven Hughes and other participants. There will be a final apéro to continue the conversation informally.

The conversation to end the economic status quo has started, will you join us?
