Diana Riba stands with Iranian Women
EFA MEP Diana Riba shows her solidarity with woman in Iran and their fight for freedom.
“Women, life, freedom! Much more than a cry of struggle and resistance from Kurdish women. It is a spell, a warning to sailors: " There can be no free society without free women.”
Women in Iran have been protesting in the last weeks following the death of 22-year-old Masha Amini, who died from the injuries sustained after being arrested by the morality police for not wearing the veil properly.
Since then, around 76 people have died, and thousands of people have been injured or arrested in the demonstrations.
MEP Riba described how Iranian women are risking their lives by just protesting for their right to live on their own terms and how their resilience and fight are an example for women worldwide.
“Today, in a world of increasing conflict, authoritarianism and inequality, freedom, equality and hope have a woman's name.”
“Their struggle, their resistance, is an example for all of us.” Riba said
Diana Riba MEP sent a message of solidarity for those fighting to take down an oppressive system that dominates, subjugates and discriminates against them.
“ We are at your side. We will always be at the side of women who demand freedom for themselves and for their societies.”
“Jin, Jiyan, Azadi!” Diana Riba concluded
