European Council

Quote from Ska Keller

The European Council summit has ended without any notable progress on the Coronavirus Recovery Plan. President of the Greens/EFA group in the European Parliament, Ska Keller MEP comments:

"As expected this virtual summit has come to an end without any major progress on the Recovery Plan. Now, EU leaders must use this time until the July summit to do the necessary diplomatic legwork to come to an agreement on the post-COVID recovery. We don't have the time to waste. There are solid proposals on the table, now they need to be put into action. It is in the interest of all Member States to have a strong and resilient EU.

"EU leaders must agree to grants over loans to ensure the recovery plan doesn't further indebt the Member States worse affected by the Corona crisis. To make this money have a lasting impact the Green Deal must be the engine of the recovery. We cannot move on from one crisis without looking to the looming climate crisis."
