Sustainability and due diligence rules
Greens won't be part of a bad deal
The Greens/EFA Group cannot support the final agreement on the sustainability omnibus.
The outcome guts Europe’s sustainability rules and abandons accountability.
The Greens/EFA Group will therefore vote against the compromise that will take place in the JURI committee on Monday 13 October
Kira Marie Peter-Hansen, Greens-EFA MEP in charge of the Omnibus 1 comments:
“This deal is not a compromise. It crosses too many red lines.
In the rush to avoid political conflict, Europe’s leaders have made concessions that erode the foundation of credible lawmaking. We refuse to play along with the EPP’s blackmailing tactics."
"Throughout the negotiations, we have engaged constructively with the Ursula von der Leyen-majority to find a balanced compromise. We have shown flexibility and a genuine willingness to move on all elements of the file in order to find a way forward. However, this has not been the case for the EPP."
"By removing civil liability and weakening climate transition plans, this deal undermines both accountability and green ambition. Europe deserves sustainability rules that protect people and the planet, not watered-down deals that serve short-term corporate interests.”
