New Co-Presidents Terry Reintke and Nicolae Ștefănuță to lead the Greens/EFA group in the European Parliament

Tonight, the Greens/EFA Group re-elected Terry Reintke, and elected Nicolae Ștefănuță, as Co-Presidents of the Group.
Terry Reintke, Greens/EFA re-elected Co-President, comments:
“I thank my colleagues from the bottom of my heart for the continued trust they place in me to lead the group through these challenging times. I congratulate my new co-chair Nicolae Ștefănuță, and am excited to work with him as a team.
“I take on this challenge with joy because fighting for a cause is part of the Greens’ DNA. I will give everything I have to strengthen us as a political force. Together, we defend hope, optimism and our shared values against polarisation and uncertainty. We bring people together and empower them to work towards a vibrant green democracy founded on respect, empathy, and solidarity, which makes climate protection, social justice and a strong democracy its priorities.
“Together with my new Co-Chair, we fight for a strong Greens/EFA Group that drives change in Europe.”
Nicolae Ștefănuță, Greens/EFA elected Co-President, comments:
“Congratulations to Terry and thank you to all the great other candidates for how this election was held. We have tremendous respect for each other and constantly showed good spirit and support along the way.
“For the remainder of this mandate, I want to do modern politics. People need a reason to believe in politics again. They need to see that their vote can actually change their lives.
“The Greens/EFA Group is investing in dynamism, unity and a leadership that listens to people. Across Europe, citizens are worried about the cost of living, energy prices and growing instability. We take these concerns seriously, and we will fight for their priorities with a strong, united Green voice.
“If elections were held today, the far right could become the largest force in the European Parliament. That is not politics as usual. It is a warning. We need to win people back. And to do that, we have a vision and a plan.”

Terry Reintke has been a Member of the European Parliament since 2014, and Co-President of the Greens/EFA group since October 2022. She has been Vice-President of the Group since 2019. Terry Reintke is German and actively committed to the fight for the rule of law. She actively supported the Flamingo revolution in Albania and an advocate for women's rights, including the “My voice, My Choice” campaign, and LGBTQI rights, from marriage equality to trans rights.
Nicolae Ștefănuță is Vice-President of the European Parliament and joined the Greens/EFA in 2023, after a campaign that brought him into the European Parliament with 110000 signatures and 300000 preference votes in his home country, Romania. Fighting for democracy, he took the stage in support of people fighting for their rights in Tirana, Budapest, Madrid and many other places.
