CO2 emissions

Emissions rise outpaces worst-case scenario

Between 2000 and 2004 the CO2 emissions rose 3.1% a year, up from an average of 1.1% a year during the 1990s. It is faster than in the scenarios of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) suggesting that even its most alarming predictions might not tell the whole story.
It shows that there's actually no evidence of progress in managing the worldwide carbon dioxide emissions but that in many countries the situation is deteriorating.

The study found also that the acceleration of carbon dioxide emissions was greatest in the developing countries, especially in China.
