This week in the EP committees

Highlights and livestream links

Human rights will be one of several high points on the agenda as the European Parliament's committees meet from 28 September to 2 October. Nominations will be presented for the EP's Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought and a public hearing will put a spotlight on the situation in Russia. Other points of interest include a vote on road transport working time and a discussion of the Baltic Sea strategy.

Vote on road transport "working time":
A key vote on Tuesday will set the EP employment committee position on working time limits for road transport workers. A major sticking point is whether self-employed drivers will be excluded from the rules set out in the Directive.

Ten nominees have now been identified for he European Parliament's Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought. The candidates will be put forward at the foreign affairs committee meeting on Wednesday, 30 September - a first step towards announcing a final laureat in mid-December.
