Final Council agreement on the combustion engine phase out

"The end of the internal combustion engine is confirmed. Finally, the reckless blockade ends, along with the future of the combustion engine. The window is closing, but we can still stop global climate collapse

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) call for rapid action and drastic measures to achieve the goal of limiting global warming to below 1.5 degrees in their latest report. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change states that global warming has already reached 1.1 degrees. Bas Eickhout and Pär Holmgren comment.

Greens/EFA call for development of key strategic industries as a competitive advantage for the EU

The Greens/EFA Group welcomes the Net Zero Industry Act, which will reinforce the industrial plan of the Green Deal and create jobs in the climate-neutral industry. MEPs give green light for warmer homes and a cooler planet

The European Parliament has approved its position on the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), negotiated by lead rapporteur Ciarán Cuffe MEP. Postponement of the vote on combustion engine phase-out

On 6th March, the vote on the end of the combustion engine was postponed again by the Presidency of the Council. "The phasing out of the combustion engine must not fail because the policies of governments such as Germany, Poland and Italy are being driven by car industry lobbyists", Bas Eickhout MEP comments.
