EU Member States continue to block progress on tax transparency

EU Member States continued to block public tax transparency of large companies. At the meeting of the relevant Council Working Party on Company Law, representatives of the national governments were unable to agree on a common position on the Commission proposal for public country-by-country reporting.

Fiat and Starbucks rulings show urgent need for better EU laws on tax avoidance

The rulings by the General Court shows that we need much better EU-wide rules to end tax avoidance by multinationals. The court rulings prove the strengths and weaknesses of using the EU's State Aid rules to fight tax dumping, and show the urgent need to review and improve the State Aid framework.
