    Fit For 55: European Parliament rejects severely weakened Emission Trading System

    MEPs from the Greens/EFA Group along with a progressive majority have successfully voted down a considerably weakened position on the EU Emissions Trading System, following efforts of the EPP Group and industry lobbies. The ETS file will now go back to the Environment Committee.

    Proposed EU regulation on deforestation and forest degradation

    Our case study on EU soy and beef imports from South America shows that this narrow focus on protecting FAO “forests” could increase pressure on other precious ecosystems. As proposed, the legislation would leave three quarters of the Cerrado (79 million hectares) and a third of the Gran Chaco (32 million hectares) unprotected.

    MEPs vote to end combustion engine by 2035
