BUILDING A EUROPE OF ALL PEOPLES

A EUROPE OF ALL PEOPLES

We want a EU that recognises and accepts minorities and stateless nations. Over the last decades, we have seen an increase in civic movements across Europe asking for self-determination and devolution, whether that is recognition, federalism, or independence.

BUT THAT’S NOT CURRENTLY THE CASE

Right now Europe works in a very centralised manner, where people from Flensburg, Catalonia or Corsica to name a few, feel ignored and disrespected. In many places of Europe learning your mother tongue is either very difficult or forbidden, putting at risk our culture, our community and our identity.

HOW TO FIX EUROPE

We in the Green/EFA parliamentary group advocate multi-level governance, that is, a model of decentralised government where minority nations have greater control of their institutions and their economic resources.
