No GMOs in our fields or on our tables !

On 29 September 2006, the Dispute Settlement Body of the WTO published its final ruling on the GMO policy of the EU which upholds the substance of the European GMO policy. That is the good news. The bad news is that it severely weakens the chances of securing a GMO policy based on the precautionary principle in the future.

A Green perspective on international trade

Trade, as an ordinary means of cooperation to satisfy human needs, is an age old concept. Freedom of expression

Over the years, Greens have very often supported candidates who also supported environmental progress in their fight for fundamental rights. Our fight for the cyber-dissidents from China, Iran and Tunisia in 2005 resulted in a resolution on the freedom of expression on the internet. What about 2006 ?

Illegal detention of prisoners in Europe

Many suspicions have recently been confirmed by the recent statement made by George Bush admitting the existence of secret detention centres operated by US services. Human rights and democracy clause in EU agreements

The Greens have worked for years on the implementation of a human rights and democracy clause in EU agreements. Since the adoption of the report, when negotiating with countries with a poor record of human rights, the inclusion of a human rights clause and a special monitoring mechanism is part of the discussion
