EFA MEP denied entry to Palestine by Israeli authorities
In the early hours of the 21st of February, EFA MEP Ana Miranda was denied entry to Palestine by the Israeli authorities and deported to the Spanish state. The Galizan MEP was due to spend a few days in Palestine as a member of the European Parliament Delegation for Relations with Palestine (DPAL).
Greens/EFA priorities for the plenary week included the Green Deal Industrial Plan, EU accession to the Istanbul Convention, CO2 Emissions for Cars and Vans, Developing an EU cycling strategy, an Independent EU Ethics Body and more.

MEPs vote for Ethics body, call on Commission not to drag its feet
Members of the European Parliament have voted for an independent EU Ethics Body to tackle issues of integrity, transparency and accountability across the EU institutions. The Greens/EFA Group are calling on the Commission to come out with proposals for a strong and effective independent EU Ethics Body without delay.

Greens/EFA call for large-scale investments in green technologies
MEPs have adopted the resolution on the Green Deal Industrial Plan. The Greens/EFA Group are calling for fresh money and massive investments in energy savings, the expansion of renewable energies, green hydrogen and the boosting of European production of green technologies.

EFA MEP Diana Riba i Giner intervened in plenary on the debate "The erosion of the rule of law in Greece: the wiretapping scandal and media freedom" to alert about the worrisome state of the freedom of the press in the EU.

Inclusion of Russia to blacklist shows EU can take strong steps towards tax justice but be more proactive
EU Ministers of Finance and Economy have agreed to update the list of non-cooperative third country jurisdictions for tax purposes, commonly known as the ‘EU tax haven blacklist’. They agreed to add Russia and the British Virgin Islands to the blacklist but have decided to leave Qatar on the greylist of non-cooperative jurisdictions.

Parliament votes for all new cars to be electric by 2035
Members of the European Parliament have adopted the compromise reached with EU Member States and the European Commission on CO2 emissions for cars and vans. From 2035, no more new cars and vans with combustion engines will be registered in the EU. The Greens/EFA Group voted in favour of the outcome of the negotiations.
