Greens/EFA Group welcome Commission proposals on road safety, call for an EU-wide speed limit

The Greens/EFA in the European Parliament welcome the road safety package proposed by the EU Commission today and call for a legislative proposal for a speed limit, as has long been common practice in all other EU Member States except Germany.

EU deal reached on phasing out internal combustion engine for cars by 2035

Negotiators from the European Parliament, Member States and European Commission agreed on CO2 emissions requirements for new cars and vans and for a phase-out of the sale of new combustion engines by 2035.

Commission’s plans for clean air inadequate

Every year, hundreds of thousands of people die prematurely from air pollution in Europe. This is a disgrace. For years, far too little has been done to tackle air pollution, yet the European Commission’s reaction is once insufficient.

MEPs vote to end combustion engine by 2035

The automotive sector can, and should be one of the fastest sectors to decarbonise. The solutions are there and manufacturers are already racing to invest. The industry needs certainty. The European Parliament has shown clear support for the car industry to go fully electric by 2035.

WHO recommends tighter limits on air pollutants - EU must catch up

The World Health Organisation's guidelines send a clear signal for clean air and our health. The recommendations are a call for the European Commission to do more for air quality in the EU. People in the EU have a right to clean air.
