    Violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo

    Greens/EFA call for an immediate end to the violence and human rights abuses in eastern DRC and stress the need for further efforts to put an end to the activity of foreign-armed groups. They also express particular concern about MONUC's involvement with the Congolese army in operation Kimia II and call on the ONU to investigate.

    EU telecoms legislation

    The European Parliament has today approved a compromise agreement on telecoms legislation that its negotiators reached with the EU Council. The major sticking point had been on the protection of internet users' rights in the face of severe and fast-track copyright enforcement measures that are envisaged in some EU Member States.
