    Right to repair/consumer package

    The European Commission presented its Consumer package which includes two proposals for sustainable consumption, the right to repair and a proposal for a Green Claims Directive. The Greens/EFA welcome the proposal for a right to repair and will push for an extension of the warranty in the upcoming negotiations.

    The window is closing, but we can still stop global climate collapse

    The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) call for rapid action and drastic measures to achieve the goal of limiting global warming to below 1.5 degrees in their latest report. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change states that global warming has already reached 1.1 degrees. Bas Eickhout and Pär Holmgren comment.

    Vote to stop a future of biometric mass surveillance in Europe!

    41 MEPs from different political groups call the French Parliament to stop an unprecedented planned automated mass surveillance of citizens’ behaviour in public using artificial intelligence. This call comes ahead of the vote on planned legislation for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

    Greens/EFA call for development of key strategic industries as a competitive advantage for the EU

    The Greens/EFA Group welcomes the Net Zero Industry Act, which will reinforce the industrial plan of the Green Deal and create jobs in the climate-neutral industry. However, some aspects of the proposal remain questionable, such as the emphasis on CO2 storage as a mature net-zero technology for our 2030 climate commitments.

    Ana Miranda calls for the protection of bees and sustainable farming

    EFA MEP and Vice Chair of the Committee of Petitions, Ana Miranda, intervened in plenary today to call the EU to take action to protect bees and other pollinators as key actors for environmental health. She also pointed out the great support of this citizen petition, with 1.2 million European petitioners backing it up.
