MEPs condemn violent crackdown on protests, urge Iran respect fundamental rights
The European Parliament voted on a resolution on the repression of women's rights protesters in Iran. The Greens/EFA strongly condemn the death of Mahsa Jina Amini, and all victims of unrestrained violence of security forces. The Greens/EFA call on the Council and Commission to apply pressure to the Iranian authorities to immediately stop violence against protesters and to keep the internet accessible for all.
Greens/EFA Group call for addition & long term solutions to tackle energy, climate & social crises
A majority of the European Parliament missed the opportunity to send a strong signal on the energy price crisis. The Greens/EFA call to increase the windfall tax on fossil energy companies and extend it to other sectors did not receive a majority. We need an EU solidarity fund to tackle the energy crisis and protect small businesses and vulnerable households.
Commission must not rubber stamp away the rule of law in Hungary
MEPs will debate proposals by the Commission to protect the EU budget from systemic corruption in Hungary in public procurement, under the rule of law conditionality mechanism. The Commission appears to be moving toward deeming anti-corruption proposals by the Hungarian government satisfactory enough to suggest for the Council to end the process, without any measures being imposed.
A great victory for consumers and the environment
The European Parliament gave the final green light on the common charger. The common charger will introduce the USB-C as standard charging cable for everything from mobile phones to laptops and e-readers. This is a triumph for the environment as well as a triumph for consumers

Stand with Ukraine: Let's stop fuelling war!
Europe's addiction to gas and oil from Russia funds Putin’s war in Ukraine. It's now more urgent than ever to make the EU energy independent!
We need a renovation revolution. Time to insulate homes, to save energy, and to accelerate our transition into renewable energy so we immediately reduce our dependence on fossil fuels.
We must end this energy dependency and accelerate to a 100% renewable economy.
By doing so, we help the people of Ukraine fight for their freedom.
