FOOD THAT’S GOOD FOR PEOPLE AND PLANET!

WE WANT GOOD FOOD

Everybody wants good food! Food should taste good, be good for the planet, good for the farmer that produces it, and good for the person that buys it.

BUT THAT’S NOT CURRENTLY THE CASE

Right now, big supermarkets and massive agricultural industries are exploiting the earth and squeezing farmers out of their well deserved earnings, all to make a quick buck.

HOW TO FIX THE FOOD SYSTEM

But the solution is actually quite simple, at least in the European Union. To save Europe’s farmers, the EU has an enormous budget (59 billion!) that it hands out as subsidies to support food production. If we invested all this money in the right way, we could radically transform the system.

OUR KEY DEMANDS TO GET GOOD FOOD FOR ALL

We want to leverage the power of the CAP money to fight against the climate crisis by:

  • Using the EU subsidies to support small farmers to produce ecological food and to reward farmers who are working in harmony with the planet and treating their animals humanely.
  • Financing small farmers and new entrants, instead of throwing money at huge agri-businesses, royal families and oligarchs that gobble up the land.
  • Investing in local farmers and in making shorter supply chains so that food doesn’t always have to travel thousands of miles, so we can support our regional economies and so we can avoid supply-chain crises in the future.

EPP and Renew align with far-right extremists against nature restoration

A majority of EPP, Renew and right-wing populists in the European Parliament's Fisheries Committee rejected the European Commission's proposal for a Directive on Nature Restoration. The rejection is part of an ideological right-wing campaign against the Green Deal and key legislation to protect the climate and conserve natural resources.
