    EU adopts groundbreaking Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive

    Members of the European Parliament adopted the long awaited Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive. The directive is a milestone for responsible business conduct as for the first time the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights will be codified into EU law.

    EU expected to ban products made with forced labour

    Members of the European Parliament will debate the “Regulation on Prohibiting products made with forced labour on the EU market”. The plenary vote will take place tomorrow. This new legislation marks a crucial step towards putting human rights at the core of the EU’s trade policy and the single market.

    Final agreement on improving conditions for platform workers

    A majority of EU countries in the Employment and Social Affairs Council just supported the deal on improving conditions for platform workers. This agreement is a very important step in building a strong social Europe. It manages to improve the working conditions of the most precarious workers

    Greens/EFA call for adoption of the platform workers directive

    MEPs will debate the need to overcome the Council deadlock on the platform workers directive. It is estimated that at least 4 million people working through digital labour platforms are misclassified as self-employed instead of employees, allowing platforms to evade labour, tax and social security legislation that apply to employees.
