Greens/EFA call for adoption of the platform workers directive

MEPs will debate the need to overcome the Council deadlock on the platform workers directive. It is estimated that at least 4 million people working through digital labour platforms are misclassified as self-employed instead of employees, allowing platforms to evade labour, tax and social security legislation that apply to employees.

Deal on stricter air pollution limits: A bitter-sweet victory

The Parliament and the Council have reached an agreement on the Air Quality Directive, which sets new EU-wide action to reduce pollution limits up to 2.5 times lower than current targets by 2030. However, the deal falls short of the limits recommended by the World Health Organisation.

Greens/EFA call on Council to abide by agreement and adopt the Corporate Sustainability and Due Diligence Directive

The Coreper is expected to vote on the trilogue outcome of the Corporate Sustainability and Due Diligence Directive negotiations. Several Member States, have signalled that they will not support the agreement. The Greens/EFA call on the Council to stand by its agreement and give the green light to the Due Diligence Directive.

EU 2040 climate target: Green/EFA push for phasing out all fossil fuels to make the EU climate neutral by 2040

The Commission presented their proposed 2040 climate target for the EU. It includes a 90 percent reduction in net greenhouse gas emissions by the year 2040. The Greens/EFA Group is calling for net-zero greenhouse gas emissions reduction by the year 2040. The Commission is expected to present draft legislation at a later stage.
