Word-leading binding rules take shape

The European Parliament has adopted its report on the Corporate Sustainability and Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD). The Greens/EFA group have long advocated for mandatory rules requiring companies to identify and remedy risks to human rights arising from the activities throughout their value chain. MEPs pushes for stronger measures to combat sexual harassment

EPP and Renew align with far-right extremists against nature restoration

A majority of EPP, Renew and right-wing populists in the European Parliament's Fisheries Committee rejected the European Commission's proposal for a Directive on Nature Restoration. The rejection is part of an ideological right-wing campaign against the Green Deal and key legislation to protect the climate and conserve natural resources.

MEPs vote for EU accession to the Istanbul Convention

Members of the European Parliament voted to give consent for the EU accession to the Istanbul Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence (IC). Following today’s vote, the Council is expected to ratify the convention on behalf of the EU as a whole in June.

The European Parliament votes in favour of audiovisual works to be available in regional and minoritaised languages.

An amendment introduced by EFA MEP Diana Riba in an important report on the European audiovisual services law calls for all audiovisual products to be available through dubbing, subtitling and audio description in the official languages of each territory.
