The Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought

Over the years, Greens have often nominated candidates who also supported environmental progress in their fight for fundamental rights. Last year, the jailed Chinese dissident Hu Jia - who was nominated by the Greens/EFA Group - was awarded the Sakharov Prize. What about 2009 ?

Working time

Today, the European Parliament's employment and social affairs committee narrowly voted in favour of a European Commission proposal to exclude self-employed drivers from working time rules in the road transport sector. G20

It's now or never for the leaders of the world's biggest economies to make the changes that will support their claims to have learnt the lessons of the financial and economic crises. European financial market supervision
