Greens/EFA Group welcomes focus on climate but needs to see action

Commission President Ursula von der Leyen presented the proposal for the new European Commission. Greens/EFA welcome the clear commitment from the Commission President to the Green Deal for the new Commission but are concerned about the Member States failing to live up to their promises and reach gender equality.

Diana Riba calls for strengthening diplomacy to achieve peace in Ukraine

EFA President, Diana Riba i Giner intervened in the plenary debate on continued financial and military support for Ukraine by EU Member States. Diana focused her efforts on insisting on the diplomatic route to bring an end to the war.

Greens/EFA welcomes ECJ ruling on access to COVID vaccine contracts

The European Court of Justice (ECJ) issued its ruling on the lawsuit filed by five Greens/EFA MEPs requesting access to documents related to the joint purchases of Covid vaccines. The Greens/EFA Group welcome that today’s ruling clarified that the Commission unduly refused access to certain elements in the contracts.

On 16 July, Greens/EFA MEP Nicolae Ștefănuță was elected European Parliament Vice President. He is a tireless campaigner for equality, youth rights and transparency and has single handedly built a thriving green movement in Romania. This is his second term in the European Parliament.
